CHESHIRE - America Marie Celestino, 81, of Cheshire, CT died on the 27th of June, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Mickey Celestino. She was born on May 10th, 1931 in Greenwich, CT and was the daughter of the late Angelo and Michelina (Farfariello) Parisi.
Before retiring, America had worked as a teacher’s aide for special education in the Greenwich Public School System. America was very outgoing and would strike up a conversation with anyone. She was a fan of all of her grandchildren and in recent years she was heard on the football and soccer fields cheering them on and giving the opposing teams a hard time. She enjoyed the movies, shows and her “senior” trips which usually involved a stop at a casino. America was the first child born in the U.S. to Italian immigrants, hence her name, America, of which she was extremely proud.
America is survived by three sons; Mickey Celestino of Levant, Maine, Leon Celestino and his wife Alice of Sarasota, Florida and Bobby Celestino and his wife Tina of Cheshire, CT. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren; Lyndsy, Ashly, Tory, Nicholas, Jacques, Andre’, Taylor, Jordan and Xavier. She was predeceased by a brother; Pat Parisi and three sisters; Julie Parisi, Nellie Sibilio and her twin, Antoinette Vrtiak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 North Brooksvale Road, Cheshire, CT. Interment will follow in St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Cheshire. Memorial contributions may be directed to Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, P.O.
