Ann Elizabeth Almodovar passed away peacefully on January 2, 2013 while embraced in the arms of her loving husband. Although her battle was long and challenging, her courage, strength and grace amazed everyone.
Ann was an accomplished RN, BSN, MSN, and APRN who specialized in critical care, working many years at the VA Hospital as well as the University of Hartford. She embraced life, loved her family passionately and enjoyed traveling.
Ann is survived by her mother Betty Howard; husband Ferdinand Almodovar; and their son, Robert Silverio Almodovar of Canton. She is also survived by her bonus children whom she adored as her own, Yadira Almodovar, Sybelle Almodovar, Ferdinand Almodovar, Jr, & Evelyn Almodovar; as well as her grandchildren Yulianna, Julian, Alphonse; and her bonus grandchild, Melia. Ann will also be missed by her closest friends, Elba Cordova, Carrie Sheehy, Michelle Rozum; and her cousin Judy Boston.
The family would like to sincerely thank the nurses and staff of the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center for their tender care of Ann, and extend their eternal gratification to her nurse Donna Rioux, Dr. Peter Schauer and Dr. Alison Lane-Reticker who made Ann's transition from this world to the next peaceful and comfortable.
A memorial is planned for Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at La Trattoria Restaurant in Canton, from 12-2 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Ann's memory to the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center, Hartford Hospital, 80 Seymour Street, Hartford, CT 06102.
