Barbara D. Schmidt, age 82, of Clinton, CT, passed away peacefully, with her loving family at her side, on Jan. 21, 2012 at Apple Rehab. She was born Aug. 1, 1929. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, William W. Schmidt. She was the daughter of the late William and Helen Dayton.
She worked as a bookkeeper most of her life for her late husband's business and then for Rollar Holmes and Needle Loft. She was treasurer of TOPS for many years and was secretary of the Leisure Club. She volunteered her services at the Estuary store in Old Saybrook for several years.
She is survived by her 4 loving children, William W. Schmidt Jr. and his wife Martha of Crestone, CO., Betty Ann Robbins of Clinton, CT, Connie Goodale and her husband Denis also of Clinton, CT., and Jean Cassella and her husband Jay of Higganum, CT.; 5 grandchildren, Peter and Eliot Schmidt of Colorado, Blake Robbins of Massachusetts, Alicia Chevalier and her husband Colby also of Massachusetts and Denis Goodale Jr. of Connecticut. She is also survived by many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Westbrook Congregational Church, Sat Jan. 28, 2012 at 10:00am. A private Burial will be held. Memorial contributions can be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309. Donorinquiry@komen.org
