Daniel McLaughlin

Daniel McLaughlin of Ridgefield, a retired wire lather, died Saturday, Feb. 16, at Danbury Hospital. He was 61 years old.

Mr. Daniel was born in the Bronx on July 3, 1951, son of Eileen McLaughlin Treacy of Rye and Scarsdale, N.Y. and the late James A. McLaughlin, and the stepson of the late James Treacy.

He attended Iona Prep High School in New Rochelle, N.Y., and St. Louis University. He worked as a wire lather in New York City for a number of years.

He previously lived in White Plains, N.Y., Wilton, and Scarsdale.

“Fishing was Dan’s passion along with horseshoes, swimming and sharing a beer alongside friends at the Ancient Mariner, Corner Pub and B&G in Ridgefield,” his family said. “Danny will be remembered for being a good friend, brother and a very fun and crazy uncle to his family.”

Besides his mother, he is survived by his seven siblings: Denise McLaughlin (Arthur) of New Canaan, James McLaughlin (Betsy) of Point Pleasant, N.J., Steve McLaughlin (Donna) of White Plains, N.Y., Kelly Michael of Basking Ridge, N.J., Dick Treacy (Kathy) of North Massapequa, N.Y., Robert Treacy of New York, and Mary Pat Sexton (Gerry ) of Ridgefield. He is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews including Chris, Colleen, Patrick, and Michael Sexton of Ridgefield.

Services took place Monday, Feb. 18.

The McLaughlin family said it was “extremely grateful to the wonderful care given by Danbury Hospital last week after he suffered a stroke. We are also grateful to all his near and far friends and fellow neighbors at Ballard Green.”
