Darene Vernell Thompson -Free spirit with a love for everyone

Darene Vernell Thompson was born on February 12, 1959 in Harlem, New York, to Leroy Thompson and Catherine Thompson.

Darene passed on in her home at the tender age of 51. She last lived in East Hartford Conn. Darene is survived by her Son Mustafa and wife Beckyjean Thompson of Agawam, Massachusetts, Son Sidiyq Thompson of East Hartford, CT, four grandchildren: Sidiyq, Dorian, Kennadie and Addison, her mother Catherine Thompson, Seven siblings: Catherine Washington of California, Lawrence and Sheila Love-Thompson of East Hartford, CT, Denise Bacote of South Carolina, Sharay White of East Hartford, CT, Cecilia Thompson of Hartford, CT, Tracy Thompson of Massachusetts, and Charlene Thompson, Hartford, CT. Her best friend and life partner Winston Cobb and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

Darene is predeceased by her father Leroy Thompson, brothers Leroy Thompson jr. and Edwin Thompson

Darene graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1978. After raising her two children and much moving around, she began employment with Pratt and Whitney in 2001. During this time she performed administrative and secretarial duties. Due to life circumstances, she was laid off from Pratt and Whitney in 2008. After being laid off, she continually worked to improve the lives of all of those around her.

Services will be held at New Birth Worship Center, 589 New Park Ave #2, West Hartford, CT. On Friday October 8, 2010. Visiting begins at 11:00 – 12:00. The service will commence at 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Repast to follow immediately
