SOUTHBURY — Dr. John T. Ciarlelli, 89, of Southbury, Conn., died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at the home of his son, Dr. Jeffrey J. Ciarlelli, in Watertown, Conn. A life so beautifully lived, he was a wonderful human being, a husband, father, grandfather and a healer. He was the beloved husband of the late Marion (Mazza) Ciarlelli. He was born on March 24, 1923, in Waterbury, Conn., the son of the late Ezio and Maria (DeRosa) Ciarlelli.
Prior to his retirement, he maintained a private practice providing chiropractic care for over 60 years. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in Europe during World War II.
He is survived by a son, Dr. Jeffrey J. Ciarlelli, his wife, Regina, and two grandchildren, Andrew and Amanda Ciarlelli. He was known to his friends and family as Papa John (Big Bad John). A truly remarkable man who loved reading his books, spending time with his family and sitting and sunning himself. An adorable man with a lot of character that will always be remembered and sorely missed.
There are no calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The Cremation Society of New England has been entrusted with the arrangements.
