Eleanor M. Hardy
July 23, 1926 – October 22, 2010
Eleanor May Hardy, often known as “Pat”, passed away peacefully at Chesterfield Healthcare Center after a year long stay. She was 84. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Richard E. Hardy
Mrs. Hardy, daughter of the late Charles H. and Elsie M. Patterson, was born in Providence, Rhode Island, July 23, 1926. She and her husband Richard moved to Denver, Colorado in 1950, then to Syracuse, New York in 1957 before settling in Deep River, Connecticut in 1962.
“Pat” was trained in electroencephalography, the recording of brain waves, in Denver at the Porter Hospital in early 1951. In Connecticut, she worked for many years at Yale New Haven Hospital in the EEG Lab and Neurology department at Middlesex Memorial Hospital, where she worked for many years as the Supervisor and Registered EEG Technologist. During her career, she adapted to many changes and advances in equipment and technology, and also trained many others in the techniques of recording brain waves before retiring in
Mrs. Hardy leaves her sons Richard E. Hardy II and his wife Wendy of San Diego, California; Jonathan S. Hardy and his wife Claudia and their daughters Caitlyn, Sarah, and Jillian; Bradford P. Hardy and his wife Tracy and their daughters Carly, Megan, and Erin all of Deep River; and her daughter Sylvia J. Hooghkirk and her husband David and their children Daniel and Nicole of Chester.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Richard, her sister Norma, and her brother Lloyd. She is survived by her brothers Thomas and his wife Marion of Corona, California; Alton and his wife Elizabeth and her brother Charles and his partner Caroline, all of Massachusetts. She also leaves many cousins, nieces, and nephews who she loved dearly.
A celebration of the life of Eleanor M. Hardy will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Deep River Congregational Church. There will be a small reception afterward to share memories of the happy times we spent with Eleanor. Burial will be private.
