Kenneth Stephen Krom, 90, a longtime resident of Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park, NY, died peacefully at his home in Wallingford, CT on Oct 22, 2010. Kenneth was born on Feb 3, 1920, in Bethlehem, PA, the son of Stephen and Nora (Booth) Krom. He grew up in Atwood and Kerhonkson, NY. In 1941, Kenneth enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in the 8th Air Force, 93rd Bomb Group, 328th Bombardment Squadron in Hardwick, England, until the end of the war. On August 10, 1946, Kenneth married Mary Thomas Sullivan of Poughkeepsie, who predeceased him in 1984. They are survived by three children, Stephen (Christine Kaiser) of Swampscott, MA, Jane Maule (Peter) of Kirkland, WA, and Paul (Grace Borghi) of Northford, CT, and two grandchildren, cousins Nora Krom and Stephen Krom. A New York State employee, Kenneth retired in 1978 from his career as a fleet mechanic at Hudson River Psychiatric Center, Poughkeepsie. In 2003, he moved to Masonicare Ashlar Village, Wallingford, CT. A memorial service will be held at Ashlar Village on Saturday, Oct 30 at 2:30pm. Burial will be private.
